You will be required to submit the following: 1. At least one free-write from your notebook that inspired a short story.
1. A printed copy of your 750-word Google doc draft w/ peer strikeouts.
2. A printed copy of your 300-word Word doc draft.
3. A printed copy of your 55-word Word doc draft.
4. A printed copy of your 55-word final draft.
5. A one-page typed reflection on your writing process, specifically how the Google Docs review, small group review, and whole class review impacted the development of your story.
Remember that you should be working with one story idea as you trim to 55 words. Don’t start or submit a new story for each draft.
Remember to do the following: 1. Staple all documents together.
2. Title your 55-word version story.
3. Use size 12 Times New Roman Font. I will evaluate your story based on it’s the following criteria: 1. That you develop a compelling problem or conflict and resolution. Remember, a resolution doesn’t necessarily require that the conflict or problem gets solved. We simply need to learn something as a reader by story’s end. 2. Your adherence to the two basic rules for good creative writing: - Show don’t tell. - Vary patterns of emphasis.
3. I will not grade any story packet that is incomplete. All elements must be there. You will also lose one letter grade for every day that the assignment is late.
